June 23, 2025 in Budapest, Hungary we organized first time the Open6GNet workshop co-located with the IEEE Netsoft Conference. We find it very important to bring into focus the discussion about the role of open-source projects for the evolution towards 6G Networks. Prof. Magedanz (TU Berlin, Germany) introduced the broader OpenRIT6G initiative, targeting to enable cost-effective research infrastructure toolkits worldwide and the Open6GNet sub-initiative, where only open-source toolkits are considered for building reference testbeds for academia and beyond.
